LuisaViaRoma for UNICEF second star-studded Winter Gala and Benefit in St Barth

LuisaViaRoma hosted the second winter edition of its LuisaViaRoma for UNICEF gala&nbsp;in St. Barth on Thursday December 29th, 2022, held at Emeraude St Barth. &nbsp;The night featured a cocktail reception, a gala dinner and a live auction conducted by Simon de Pury&nbsp;featuring exclusive items, artwork and experiences.&nbsp;The highlight of the evening included special performances by writer, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Lenny Kravitz, who has won four consecutive Grammy&reg; Awards; and DRAKE&nbsp;multi-award-winning performer who is the first artist in history to earn 100 top 20 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and the all-time record-breaker for most top 5 hits among all artists in Hot 100 history &mdash; surpassing the Beatles (30). &nbsp; International celebrities, philanthropists and notable guests from all over the world attended the night and helped raise more than &euro;3 million through the auction to support UNICEF&rsquo;s work in providing care and protection to vulnerable children across the globe.&nbsp;The event was hosted by Luisa Panconesi, President of LuisaViaRoma&rsquo;s Comitato Evento, Paolo Rozera, Unicef Italia Executive Director and Tommaso Chiabra Event Fundraising Chairman UNICEF Italia, together with the generous support of the event's founding partner, the Red Sea International Film Festival. &nbsp; Among the notable guests in attendance who came out to support this special evening were&nbsp;Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup, Luke Evans, Edward Enninful Obe, Rita Ora, Karolina Kurkova, Maxwell, Kygo, Liya Kebede, Kiernan Shipka, Taika Waititi, Remo Ruffini, Georgia Palmer, Chase Hudson, Nabilla Vergara, Jordan Barrett, Rachel Zoe, Amalie Gassmann, &nbsp;Sveva Alviti, Bob Sinclair and Frida Aasen. &nbsp; The night continued with a live auction with a variety of art pieces and one-of-a-kind luxury items and experiences, many of which were introduced by the celebrities in the room. Highlights of the auction included an a software-based artwork by Refik Anadol, "AI Data Sculpture A," which is the largest neurotherapeutic AI data sculpture, and the first artwork ever produced using human brain data; as well as Steve McQueen&rsquo;s own 1961 Formula junior race car, the Ares customised Land Rover Cabriolet, a BMW Scrambler motorcycle with trailer, and a unique experience under the Northern lights of the Arctic with polar explorer Johan Ernst Nilson.

Interview with Andrea Panconesi, Chief Executive Officer at LUISAVIAROMA and with Luisa Panconesi, President of the Committee of the St Barth LUISAVIAROMA for Unicef Gala 2022. Philippe Combres: &nbsp;Tell us a few words about the St Barth winter edition of LUISAVIAROMA For UNICEF. LUISAVIAROMA: &nbsp;The reason why we are here is to gather everyone on this paradise of an island to raise money for UNICEF. On top of the fact that St Barth is a beautiful island, its proximity to the USA and Americans coming here for holidays is very important for us. We aim to raise and bring awareness to American consumers through our partnership with UNICEF. &nbsp;It is&nbsp;our second most key market, and we are opening up a flagship store in New York City as well in January 2024. &nbsp;The gala is a way for LUISAVIAROMA to be present, a way for us to showcase the brand, and to leverage our brand's overall image, while also receiving insights on the ground to know our clientele and consumers well. &nbsp;But most importantly, it is to raise money which is the objective number one.&nbsp;
PC: How you can define this organization and, for the people who live in St Barth, why you need to build such a big structure and event? LVR: &nbsp;People, they are willing to give if they get something, you know. &nbsp;It has to be win-win. You know, you have to, make the guests feel happy, make them enjoy themselves. And then you hope that they are motivated to share some of their good time with somebody else who is more in need than themself. &nbsp;By seeing all this beauty and this big performance, maybe they feel like "look at how lucky we are. Look how luxury this is. Look how beautiful this is. &nbsp;Maybe I can give something to somebody who's needing more than us." And maybe they think in the back of their minds that somebody else is not in the same situation, and they feel compelled to give more. &nbsp;So, you know, the contrast works.&nbsp;And concerning the local residents, I think the good thing about it is that I heard that we are one of the first global organizations to raise money for a good cause here in St Barth. So that's amazing. I'm very proud of it. This is a place where the global affluent set calls home or comes to holiday, so why don't we give them a chance to enjoy themselves for one night and dream? &nbsp;Why don't we give them a special evening with the greatest performers and performances out there, like Drake who comes to play for this good cause? &nbsp;Drake came here because he found purpose in it. He is a giver. He's not an egotistical person. He's somebody who feels like it's a great and worthy cause to align with. Everyone here has come out to support something that serves their good conscience, which is why everybody's happy: they are are supporting a good cause. So I believe the local residents should be happy and proud that the island is hosting such a beautiful event. &nbsp;The major is very happy to host us. The performers are happy. We are happy. Unicef is happy. LuisaViaRoma are happy.&nbsp;
PC: You have also an environmental program? LVR: Yes, for many years. &nbsp;We do not to say that we excel when it comes to efforts to save the planet. In the business of fashion retail, this is a very difficult thing to do. &nbsp;We wish, but cannot say that our effort lies in choosing to carry companies and brands who are environmentally friendly, and that we audit how they produce their goods. However, there are a select number of brands making concerted efforts in the direction of sustainable and ethical practices that we choose to highlight a special section of our platform, where people who feel and share the same values can discover items which align with their beliefs and their conscious consumption.&nbsp;We have a section which is LV Sustainable, where our guidelines are to buy products that have a level of certification on specific ethical or environmental topics.&nbsp;
PC: We work on a local charity here &laquo; Art For Our Oceans&raquo; to protect and save the oceans.&nbsp;Here in St Barth there is nature everywhere. It's not like in New York or Milan. Here we think about nature every day. So the people who live here make active efforts to incorporate practices into their everyday lives and to make conscious choices that do good for this local environment. Knowing this, I have a great suggestion. Given that, for your benefit, you bring a lot of cargo here and your guests fly in private jets, perhaps it makes sense that for next year and years to come, LUISAVIAROMA also contributes something to the environment in St Barth. The idea is that if you pollute, you would also contribute to restore the damage locally. &nbsp;You add to the island's environmental health.&nbsp; I think it&rsquo;s a great idea. I never thought about that but if you know a good way to do this we are definitely interested. We&rsquo;d be happy to give back to the island.&nbsp;
