As one of the featured brands at our very own&nbsp;Le Carr&eacute; pop-up concept store here in Gustavia&#39;s luxury shopping district, L&#39;Officiel St Barth had the pleasure of collaborating with Sara Shala Jewelry on the cover shoot and photo editrials for our 2021-2022 issue featuring Jasmine Daniels.

Her jewellery added just the right amount and glamour to the styled looks.&nbsp;Here we shine a light on the brand and the creator behind it.

Born in former Yugoslavia, eventually landing in New York City, and well-traveled along the way, Sara always knew that she was meant to beautify the world in one way, shape or form.&nbsp; Always having strong sartorial savoir-faire and style sense, Sara&rsquo;s love for fashion and her innate desire to experiment with design led her into the career of her dreams in jewellery design.&nbsp;&nbsp;Through her &ldquo;anything is possible&#39;&#39; attitude and tenacious drive, Sara Shala has built a name for herself and a jewellery empire to go with it.&nbsp; She has developed quite an impressive following and set of supporters, boasting numerous celebrities, fashion influencers and brand partnerships over the years. Her jewellery has graced the pages - including some covers - of major publications including Vogue, Harper&rsquo;s Bazaar, and L&rsquo;Officiel (including St. Barth and Liechtenstein editions).&nbsp; In July 2021, she was included alongside other female entrepreneurs in a feature titled: &ldquo;Entrepreneurial Women: How Asking for Help Transformed Their Journey,&rdquo; a clear nod to her business acumen.

Produced in the heart of New York City, Sara&rsquo;s design process is literally a &ldquo;one-stop shop&rdquo; in that everything is produced under one roof: from the sketching to the prototyping to the finished product of 3D-printed and traditionally hand-crafted statement pieces.&nbsp; She is able to control the entire design and production process, ensuring the highest level of quality control required to create a fine jewellery piece.&nbsp;

Sara works with silver-, white gold-, 14k yellow gold- and platinum-plated precious metals, embellishing many of her signature pieces with beautiful gemstones. The forms and shapes of Sara Shala Jewelry pieces take inspiration from her experiences, and every piece tells a story.&nbsp; She states: &quot;My main inspiration for my work is the diverse tapestry of culture and lifestyle here in NYC.&quot;&nbsp; Adding another layer, her Links Collection draws its inspiration from the symbolism of a strong union, an eternal bond.&nbsp; Other collections have drawn inspiration from her travels, blending these adventures with inspirational elements found in her homebase of New York City.&nbsp; She clearly puts a lot of heart and soul into her pieces and the stories they tell.&nbsp;

To provide a taste of the storytelling behind her pieces, here is the abstract for her Travel Collection:

&quot;Travelling has always been an essential part of my creative process when developing a new collection. To quote Henry Miller, &ldquo;&#39;One&rsquo;s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.&#39; New experiences challenge your view, enhancing your understanding and perspective on things, as well as ignite your imagination in most unimaginable ways. Travelling not only makes you a better human, but a better artist! Be it en route to the airport, or having lunch after morning sightseeing, or exploring art galleries or browsing at flea markets, I never part with my sketchbook. Inspiration doesn&rsquo;t know the difference between business hours and down time! Composed of stylistically diverse items, this is a very personal collection of travel memories. With each piece inspired by a place especially dear to my heart, it brings an adventurous spirit to everyday life.&rdquo;&nbsp;

All Sara Shala diamonds are ethically-sourced and conflict-free, certified according to the Kimberly Process, a multilateral trade regime established in 2003 with the goal of preventing the flow of conflict diamonds by implementing safeguards on shipments of rough diamonds and certifying them as &ldquo;conflict free.&quot;

She also loves the art of collaboration with private clientele to create bespoke jewellery pieces.&nbsp; &ldquo;It is a great honour to have the opportunity to translate the ideas of clients into a tangible piece of wearable art, especially since so many of our custom designs are made to become a family heirloom.&rdquo;&nbsp; Working meticulously with her clientele, she takes them from the initial sketch to through the production process to the end product.&nbsp; This includes but is not limited to guiding them through the decision-making process of which precious metals to use, developing and refining forms, choosing a stone, their sizing, shape and cut; and working on the more delicate details. &nbsp; She loves the ability to work with individual clients as it adds the element of a personal touch to the story behind a piece.&nbsp;

Taking innovation to another level, Sara&rsquo;s bespoke designing process for private clients can include working with cultivated or lab-grown diamonds. They display the same physical, chemical, and optical characteristics as natural diamonds, and exhibit the same fire, scintillation, and sparkle. Using a jewellery loupe, lab created diamonds are nearly impossible to differentiate from natural diamonds. Each stone is unique, based on the slither it was grown from.&nbsp;&nbsp;
